Ingredients

  • 1/2 loaf good-quality bakery white bread, crusts removed (if desired), sliced 1/2-inch thick and cut into cubes
  • 1 large garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Here's how to make it:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, about 1 minute or until garlic starts to brown. Discard the garlic.
  2. Add the bread cubes. Season with salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat until browned on all sides. Remove to cool.
