National Mojito Day: How to Make Mojitos & Margaritas With Fresh Fruit

For a flavorful treat, add some of your favorite ripened fruit to your next batch of margaritas or mojitos. My margarita recipe is easy!

You'll need:

  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • tequila, to taste
  • ripened fruit (mango, peaches, watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, etc.)
  • ice

Here's how to make them:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Process until smooth.

Another option is a mojito, the Cuban equivalent to the mint julep! You'll need:

  • 5 mint leaves
  • 2 lime wedges
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ice
  • 2 ounces rum
  • soda water
  • mint and fresh fruit, for garnish

Here's how to make them:

  1. Muddle the mint leaves, lime wedges and sugar in a 10-ounce glass.
  2. Fill with ice and top with the rum and a splash of soda water.
  3. Stir and garnish with fresh mint, lime or other fresh fruit of your choice. Serve in sugar-rimmed glassware.
