Lunch Lady Brownies Recipe: An Old-fashioned Frosted Chocolate Brownie by 30Seconds Food

Remember going through the lunch line at school and seeing a tray of frosted chocolate brownies? It probably made your whole day! Relive that childhood experience by making a batch of these easy lunch lady brownies. This easy frosted chocolate brownie recipe is ooey, gooey and topped with a creamy chocolate frosting. So good!
The brownie batter is made with melted butter, unsweetened cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. The batter is baked in the oven until just set. The creamy chocolate frosting is made with butter, milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract and powdered sugar. The creamy frosting is spread on the warm (not hot!) brownies.
Serve these old-fashioned lunch lady brownies for a snack or dessert when you need that chocolate fix – or just want to reminisce.

Servings: Makes about 15 to 20 brownies
Ingredients
- 2 sticks (1 cup) butter, melted
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 4 teaspoons vanilla
Frosting
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Here's how to make it:
- Combine the melted butter and cocoa powder in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the granulated sugar, flour, eggs and vanilla. Beat until combined.
- Pour the batter into a parchment paper-lined 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 25 minutes or until brownies are set. Remove to cool.
- To make the frosting, combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and spreadable. Spread the frosting over the warm (not hot!) brownies. Refrigerate until cooled, then cut into squares.
