Whiskey & Wine Marinated Baked Mushrooms Recipe Is Wow in Your Mouth

Mushrooms soak up whatever flavors they are introduced to. When you bring red wine, whiskey and balsamic to the party, it makes the mushrooms really happy. This is one mushroom recipe you'll want to put on repeat for weeknight dinners, dinner parties, cookouts and potlucks.

For this whisky and wine marinated baked mushroom recipe you need the following shopping list: fresh mushrooms, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, red wine, whiskey, garlic, dried thyme and dried rosemary. Use whatever mushrooms you like, or a combination of different mushrooms.

The mushrooms marinated in the ingredients for about 30 minutes to soak up the flavors before being baked for about 20 minutes. This easy marinated mushroom recipe can be cooked in the oven or on the grill. If you want to cook more or less mushrooms, adjust the marinade amounts using equal parts of the liquids. Serve these flavor-packed mushrooms as a side dish for any protein.

Recipe Notes

  • The mushrooms should absorb a lot of the marinade, but drain off any excess before cooking.
  • You could use bourbon or your favorite grain alcohol instead of whiskey.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine the marinade ingredients in a baking pan.
  2. Add the mushrooms and allow to marinate about 30 minutes.
  3. Drain off any excess marinade.
  4. Cook in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 20 minutes. Alternately, you could skewer the mushrooms and cook on an indoor or outdoor grill.

Recipe does not say whether or not to drain the mushrooms before baking. My guess is to drain. Recipe should say because some recipes bake with mushrooms in marinade.

Hi Donna John ! Would you please consider adding this information to the recipe itself, as I'm pretty sure not everyone reads the comments? And in many recipes, for a variety of dishes, the marinade is cooked down to a sauce, so...would probably save a lot of confusion. Thanks!
Donna John
Ask and you shall receive. Done! Thanks for pointing that out. Terry
