Butterscotch Seven Layer Bars Recipe: An Old-fashioned Cookie Recipe That Doesn't Require a Bowl

Butterscotch! These creamy, buttery chips can be added to just about anything that calls for chocolate chips the combination is mighty tasty eating. My mother-in-law shared this easy, delicious dessert recipe 40 plus years ago and I've made multiple batches every year since.

Quick and easy to make, this easy seven-layer bar recipe requires only a 9x13-inch baking pan – no mixing bowls or even spoons to mess up!

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: Makes about 30 bars

  • 1 stick butter (1/2 cup)

Here's how to make it:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and melt the butter in a 13x9-inch baking pan while it preheats.
  2. Add the layers in the order listed above. Spread out evenly.
  3. Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and cut into bars.
