Deviled Egg Tips: How to Hard Boil an Egg Without Cracking the Shell

One of the most frustrating things when preparing hard-boiled eggs is when they crack (especially when you want to color them for Easter)! Here's a way to avoid that:

  • Fill a pot with cold water. Make sure your pot is big enough to leave room between the eggs so they don't bump each other.
  • Gently insert the eggs.
  • Add a pinch of salt prior to boiling. The salt will help prevent the egg shells from cracking.
  •  Also make sure you have at least 1 inch of water covering the eggs.

If you follow those steps, you'll have crack-free eggs!
