2-Ingredient Italian Affogato Recipe: You Can't Go Wrong With Coffee Drowned in Ice Cream for Dessert

This easy affogato recipe is a super easy dessert with a lot of bling appeal! Affogato means "drowned" in Italian and this is literally drowning ice cream in coffee.

Cuisine: Italian
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

Optional Toppings

Here's how to make it:

  1. Scoop the ice cream into a bowl or glass. Drizzle any or all of your toppings on it.
  2. Make up some good espresso coffee. If you happen to have an espresso machine at home, great, otherwise just brew some good strong liqueur in a French press (I used Starbucks Pikes Place) or get instant espresso powder.
  3. For each serving pour out two shots of hot espresso into a separate little jug. At the table pour the coffee over the ice cream and enjoy! (If you are using a glass for the ice cream, make sure to pour the coffee directly over the ice cream to prevent the glass from cracking.)

OMG, Sujata Gazder , thank you for sharing this delicious recipe. Dieter Schmitz loves affogato when we go out for it, but we've never made it at home. Definitely making it, now, thank you! #yum Donna John
