Easy Amish Cabbage Rolls Recipe: Ring the Dinner Bell

Most of us know that Amish recipes are generally comforting and delicious. These Amish cabbage rolls are no exception. Unlike most cabbage roll recipes, this one from the Pennsylvania Dutch country includes a step of browning the rolls in oil before simmering. Genius! Maybe that's why we all love Amish recipes so much.

To make these gluten-free Amish cabbage rolls, you'll need green cabbage leaves, ground beef, cooked rice, onion, an egg, tomato sauce, brown sugar and lemon juice (fresh is best). After softening the cabbage leaves in boiling water, the filling is mixed up and rolled in the cabbage leaves. Then the stuffed cabbage rolls are browned in a little oil before the tomato-based sauce is poured over and they are baked in the oven. So easy!

These Amish cabbage rolls are sure to please and become a family favorite. And they're easy on the wallet. Serve this budget-friendly ground beef recipe with a fresh garden salad with Amish lettuce dressing.
