Gluten-free Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Squares Recipe (Dairy-free & No Refined Sugar) by 30Seconds Food

Gluten-free Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Squares Recipe (Dairy-free & No Refined Sugar)

Full of healthy ingredients (and no refined sugar or dairy products!), this easy peanut butter banana oatmeal squares recipe can be eaten for breakfast or as a snack or energy bite. No matter when you eat them, this healthy oatmeal recipe is quick and easy to make.

Instead of peanut butter, you could use almond butter, cashew butter, walnut butter, sunflower seed butter or even mixed nut butter. To make them gluten free, use gluten-free oats. Keep these gluten-free snacks handy for when that craving hits.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

  • 3 overripe bananas
  • 1 cup peanut butter or your favorite nut butter
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats or gluten-free oats
  • 1 cup chopped almonds or walnuts

Here's how to make it:

  1. Beat the bananas, peanut butter, honey, cinnamon and vanilla together with an electric mixer until smooth.
  2. Stir in the oats and nuts.
  3. Spread the mixture into a square baking pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 30 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Cool completely and then cut into squares.

This recipe will be made very soon. I love peanut butter and banana! #yum
Thanks so much for the recipe, kids and I love them. Quick question, are they OK to freeze?
Elisa Schmitz
Hi MarcBcn . I have frozen these successfully. When I'm ready to defrost, I remove them from the freezer and allow to thaw in the fridge overnight. Then, I pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds (natch!) or so to warm them up, and they turn out really well. Hope they do for you as well! Donna John
Thanks a lot Elisa for such a quick response! Checking out the other recipes here, great website πŸ™‚

Thank you so much, MarcBcn ! We appreciate the kind feedback. Happy that you're enjoying the recipes and hope you'll check out the Dad channel as well. Any dad who makes these easy, delicious oatmeal squares for/with his kids is obviously an awesome dad! :-) Welcome to 30Seconds.
They looked great on paper, but these were awful. They were bland with no good consistency. The proportions are all wrong.
Donna John
Can you tell us how the consistency was wrong so maybe we can help? Was it too thin? Thick? Did you use any substitutions for the ingredients listed? Stebben

Thanks for the tip on freezing them. Going to make another batch of these and keep them in the freezer for my kids' school lunches. They'll be thawed out by lunchtime! I enjoy these for breakfast often. I like to sprinkle some cinnamon on top before baking.
