Jailhouse Rice Recipe: This Easy, Budget-friendly Rice & Ground Beef Casserole Recipe Rocks

Jailhouse rice is a creamy rice casserole recipe full of ground beef and sausage. It's a southern recipe that's like the south in your mouth!

This easy Jailhouse rice casserole recipe can be a main dish or side dish. If you're not a fan of Italian sauce, you could double the ground meat and omit it. Rock on.

Ingredients

Here's how to make it:

  1. Cook the ground beef and sausage in a skillet, breaking it up as it cooks, until cooked through and browned. Remove to a plate.
  2. To the same skillet, add the onions and celery. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Put the meat back into the pan.
  3. Add the chicken broth, both soups, garlic powder and rice. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Pour into a 13x9-inch baking pan. Cover with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 35 to 40 minutes. Uncover and bake about 10 to 15 minutes more.

Hi? Dirty rice? Ok dirty-rice-esque.
Donna John
Hmmm. My dirty rice recipe doesn't call for canned soup, so not sure I would compare the two. :-) But love the word dirty-rice-esque. lol imjustjim

I do a dirty rice but I take out your 2 cream soups and add french onion, cream of beefy mushroom, stick of butter and us beef broth instead of chicken. Good eating.
