Jamoncillo de Leche (Mexican Milk Fudge) Recipe: This Easy Mexican Candy Recipe Is Sweet & Creamy

Jamoncillo de Leche, or Mexican milk fudge, is a traditional Mexican confection that's made with brown sugar, butter, milk and vanilla. The result is a creamy fudge-like candy that's heavenly.

Cuisine: Mexican
Prep Time: 1 hour to chill
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour and 20 minutes

Ingredients

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepot over low heat. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Test the candy by taking a small amount and dropping it into cold water. If you can mold it with your fingers, it is ready. If not, continue cooking 2-3 more minutes and try again.
  3. When ready, pour the mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer or regular mixing bowl. With an electric mixer, beat for 5 minutes. Immediately pour it into an 8x8-inch baking pan that's been lined with parchment paper and sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Spread the candy with a spatula. Refrigerate about 1 hour or until set. Cut into squares.

This reminds me of the candy we used to get at the bottom of the tortilla chip basket at Monterey House, a restaurant that's no longer open that I grew up eating at. Miss it! We loved finding those brown sugar candies in their white little bags. I cannot find a recipe like theirs, but this sounds just as good. Mmmm.
