5 Plant-Based Easter Recipes for Your Vegan & Vegetarian Friends & Family

Easter is almost here and that means it’s time to make that last-minute grocery list and start prepping for your Easter feast!. But before you reach for the deviled eggs and ham, I have some healthy, nutritious and fun food options that you should definitely consider this Easter – plant-based foods.

Holidays can tempt the best of us and Easter is no different. The traditional abundance of eggs and chocolate can lend themselves to be rich in bad fats and sugar. Eggs, unfortunately, have some health liabilities, especially if you tend toward cardiac disease. Considering cardiac disease is our No. 1 killer, that is likely you or someone near and dear to you. Eggs are rich in choline, which is turned into something called TMAO in your gut. TMAO levels are associated with greater heart disease severity.

Here are my top three plant-based Easter food ideas to enjoy this Easter holiday:

1. Ditch the Eggs

Avoiding eggs doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy brunch with a frittata. Below are two recipes that are delicious, can be served at Easter Brunch with no one being the wiser. The first substitutes a product called Just Egg (you can also try Vegan Egg) and the second, surprisingly use bean flour. I promise they’re both delicious!

2. Enjoy Some Dairy-free Chocolate

Chocolate is rich in sugar but the cacao bean actually is rich in antioxidants and quite healthy for you. Bring a chocolate chunk banana bread to brunch on Easter and for a chocolate dessert, consider making your own chocolate bark. The recipes are below and there are many chocolate-based recipes on the same site that have zero sugar or dairy products.

3. Color Up Your Salad

A healthy salad is typically part of Easter dinner and you can bring your own which is more of a meal in a salad. This robust salad has protein, greens and other colorful vegetables that will leave you feeling satisfied and proud of how healthy you just ate.
