Detroit-Style Pizza Recipe for Game Day (No Matter Who You're Pulling For) by 30Seconds Food

Detroit-Style Pizza Recipe for Game Day (No Matter Who You're Pulling For)

Detroit-style pizza has a soft, fluffy crust, crunchy exterior, cheese all the way to the edges. Yum! The deep dish pizza is rectangular because it's baked in a Detroit pizza pan (see Helpful Products) or 13x9-inch baking pan. While this easy Detroit pizza recipe takes a shortcut and uses a refrigerated pizza crust – saving you time in the kitchen – it does not lack in deliciousness. One bite and you'll wonder why you've never tried it before. And now that the Detroit Lions are on the path to a possible trip to the big game, we think you need to make this pizza!

To make a cheesy Detroit-style pizza at home (even if you're pulling for another football team) you will need the following ingredients: olive oil, a refrigerated pizza crust, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms (optional) and Parmesan cheese. Actually, grab anything you like to put on your pizza because you can add whatever you like!

Serve this pizza for lunch or dinner while watching football with friends and family. We guarantee you'll score points with this pizza recipe!

Recipe Notes

  • This pizza recipe calls for refrigerated pizza crust to save time, but you could make your own homemade pizza crust.
  • Add whatever toppings you like to this pizza! From Italian sausage, ground beef, Canadian bacon, crisp bacon to roasted peppers, mushrooms, onions, spinach, garlic, you can't go wrong. Get creative!

Here's how to make it:

  1. Coat the 13x-9-inch baking pan with the olive oil. Press the pizza dough to cover the bottom of the pan. Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 16 minutes.
  2. Top the crust with half of the pizza sauce.
  3. Top the pizza sauce with the mozzarella, making sure to go all the way to the edges.
  4. Cover the cheese with pepperoni.
  5. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Put dollops of the remaining pizza sauce on top.
  7. Bake the pizza about 6 to 8 minutes or until cheese has melted and is bubbly.
