Classic Popcorn Balls Recipe Begs to Be Dressed Up for the Holidays

Whether it's for the holidays, tailgating or birthday parties, popcorn balls are always a hit. Adding sprinkles can customize them to fit whatever occasion is on the calendar.

Popcorn ball snacks are truly a blank canvas. For a fun dessert, serve them in ice cream cones or add mini marshmallows.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 cups popped popcorn, warm
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • dash of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • sprinkles (optional)

Here's how to make them:

  1. In a pot, combine the sugar, light corn syrup, butter and salt. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  2. Add the vanilla and baking soda. Stir well.
  3. Pour the syrup over the warm popcorn. Stir to coat all the popcorn. If using sprinkles, add them now.
  4. Spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray and then shape the popcorn into balls. Cool completely.
