Tummy Pleasing 20-Minute Korean Ground Beef Recipe Is Budget-friendly by Donna John

Tummy Pleasing 20-Minute Korean Ground Beef Recipe Is Budget-friendly

Flavorful Korean beef in about 20 minutes? Yep! On nights that you have almost no time to make dinner, this will quickly become your go-to recipe.

Serve this easy Korean ground beef recipe over rice or your favorite Chinese noodles. It a great meal-prep recipe, too. If adding a poached egg, simply put it on top of the beef right before serving. (Here's how to cook a poached egg.)

Cuisine: Korean
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup lite soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • crushed red pepper flakes
  • chopped green onion and Sriracha, for garnish

Here's how to make it:

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Drain off fat.
  2. Add the garlic and cook about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring, about 3 to 5 minutes. Serve over rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions and Sriracha, if desired.

I made this last week. So good! One of the quickest recipes I've made in a long time. I didn't put an egg on it. I made both white rice and rice noodles to go with it. I ate the noodles and my husband mixed the rice and noodles together. (You can't make that up.) ;-) If you try it, be sure to snap a photo and share it and your review here!

Yum! My Korean beef recipe calls for thinly sliced sirloin and takes a lot longer than 20 minutes. Sometimes it's not so tender either. Going to make your recipe soon. Sounds delicious.

That looks amazing! 😋

Hi! Just signed up for your recipes. This one looks so good. Question... is it a really sweet dish? If so, could I just cut the sugar in half?
Donna John
To me it wasn't overly sweet, but it definitely has some sweetness going on. You could adjust the sugar to meet your tastes. Add half, then see where it's at for you. You can always add more. Welcome to 30Seconds! Joanne C

Delicious, and less than 20 minutes, probably cuz I used frozen microwaveable sticky rice.

Just sitting down to eat this and yum! My husband loves it and so do I. Only thing is there isn’t much sauce, though there’s still a lot of flavor. I even doubled the sauce recipe. Next time I will triple it as my husband really likes sauce. So far I’ve tried 2 of your recipes, this and the Ranch chicken thighs. The thighs we’re wonderful. I did them in the air fryer. Can’t wait to try another one of your recipes. They’re easy, quick, and taste great. Thank you!
Donna John
Thank you for letting me know! I'm with you on sauce. You can never have too much. Great idea to double it if you like things saucy. Those ranch chicken thighs are one of my favorites. More recipes coming your way!
