Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- dash of salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup applesauce
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup grated apple
Topping
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Here's how to make it:
- Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, brown sugar and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
- In another bowl, combine the applesauce, vanilla, egg, milk and grated apple. Mix well.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir to combine.
- To make the topping, combine all the ingredients in a small bowl. Use your fingers or a fork to mix until it forms a streusel.
- Fill a greased donut pan with the batter about 2/3 full. Top with the streusel topping.
- Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool the doughnuts a few minutes before removing from the pans.
