Watermelon Margaritas Are Another Reason to Buy a Watermelon by Donna John

When you have a ton of leftover watermelon from a get-together, you get creative. This watermelon margarita experiment was a refreshing and hydrating success. (Read the two tips below by Dr. Christopher Calapai and Susan Bowerman to learn how watermelon hydrates.) Omit the tequila and Grand Marnier for a fun watermelon mocktail!
You'll need:
- frozen watermelon chunks (remove seeds if not seedless)
- 1 large can frozen limeade
- tequila
- Grand Marnier (optional)
- ice
Here's how to make it:
Cut the watermelon into chunks and place on a cookie sheet. Freeze until firm.
Put the frozen watermelon chunks into the blender until it's a little over half full.
Add the limeade, a splash of Grand Marnier, tequila (to taste) and about 1-2 cups of ice. Pulse until smooth.
Pour into a glass and garnish with a slice of watermelon, if desired. Serve.
