This Watermelon Margarita Recipe Is Another Reason to Buy a Watermelon

When you have a ton of leftover watermelon from a get-together, you get creative. This watermelon margarita recipe experiment was a refreshing and hydrating success. (Read the two tips below by Dr. Christopher Calapai and Susan Bowerman to learn how watermelon hydrates.)

Omit the tequila and Grand Marnier for a fun watermelon mocktail. Now go get that watermelon in the freezer!

Cuisine: Mexican
Prep Time: 1 or more to freeze
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes to make

Ingredients

  • frozen watermelon chunks (remove seeds if not seedless)
  • 1 large can frozen limeade
  • tequila
  • Grand Marnier (optional)
  • ice

Here's how to make it:

Cut the watermelon into chunks and place on a cookie sheet. Freeze until firm.

Put the frozen watermelon chunks into the blender until it's a little over half full.

Add the limeade, a splash of Grand Marnier, tequila (to taste) and about 1-2 cups of ice. Pulse until smooth.

Pour into a glass and garnish with a slice of watermelon, if desired. Serve.

Hi. Quick question: frozen limeade or frozen limeade mix? I'm guessing the mix in the can, but just wanted to make sure!
Donna John
