Homemade Worcestershire Sauce Recipe: Discover Umami With a Chef's Secret Worcestershire Sauce

There are hundreds of condiments I prefer to make from scratch. Things like ketchuppeanut butter and all salad dressings. However, Worcestershire is one of those condiments that is the easiest and most satisfying.

The taste experience is insane with this homemade Worcestershire sauce recipe. Really, just do it! Very high in umami, which heightens our sense of taste. I use it in almost everything, and a little dab will do ya!

Cuisine: English
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

Here's how to make it:

  • Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until liquid is reduced by half, about 20 minutes.
  • Strain through a fine-mesh sieve and allow to cool completely before using.

Note: Worcestershire sauce may be stored in an airtight container, refrigerated, for up to 3 months.
