Real crab meat is one of my favorite things. Imitation crab meat, on the other hand, is not. But somehow, when it’s mixed with cream cheese and green onion then fried, it transforms into something that’s addictive. This crispy and creamy crab rangoon recipe is the perfect example.

To make these easy, crispy, creamy Asian crab rangoon, you will need just five ingredients plus vegetable oil for frying. Here is your short shopping list so you can make these hot fried appetizers ASAP: cream cheese, imitation crab meat, green onions, granulated sugar, wonton wrappers and vegetable oil to fry them in. The addictive crab rangoon are ready to eat in about 20 minutes.

  • If you like garlic, sprinkle a little garlic powder into the filling.
  • Make sure to seal the rangoon completely before frying or the filing will come out into the oil. Use a little water, if needed, to seal the wonton together.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine the cream cheese, crab meat, green onions and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Put about 2 teaspoons of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Bring up all four corners, twist and pinch to seal.
