Ingredients

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Beat the brown sugar, shortening, molasses, egg, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and salt with an electric mixer.
  2. Combine the flour and baking soda. Add it to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  3. Shape dough into balls and dip into the granulated sugar. Place on cookie sheets that have been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for about 10 to 11 minutes.
