Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 1/4 cups flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• pinch of salt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• maraschino cherries
• powdered sugar, for dusting

Here’s how to make it:

1. With an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar together. Add the egg. Beat well.
2. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and vanilla. Mix well.
3. Fill your cookie press with the dough. Press your shapes out onto cookie sheets. Put a maraschino cherry into the center of each.
4. Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for about 8 to 9 minutes. Remove, dust with powdered sugar and allow them to cool.
