Old-fashioned Recipes: How to Make Creamy Homemade Chocolate Pudding!

There's nothing wrong with that box of instant pudding, but sometimes you need to make a recipe like grandma used to. This chocolate pudding recipe is easy, creamy and will take you back to more simple days – when people used to cook their pudding.

You'll need:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Here’s how to make it:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt. Whisk in milk.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil and cook, stirring, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in the butter and vanilla.
  4. Pour into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and chill.

Serve the pudding as is or add toppings like whipped cream, berries, chocolate chips, sliced banana, chia seeds, shredded coconut, goji berries, cocoa nibs, M&Ms, grated dark chocolate, etc.
