This chocolate pudding recipe is easy, creamy and will take you back to more simple days – when people used to cook their pudding. Serve the pudding as is or add toppings like whipped cream, berries, chocolate chips, sliced banana, chia seeds, shredded coconut, goji berries, cocoa nibs, M&Ms, grated dark chocolate, etc.

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt. Whisk in milk.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil and cook, stirring, about 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in the butter and vanilla.
  4. Pour into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and chill about 2 hours.

This recipe is awesome!! I’d add only that you need to whip this up after it’s been refrigerated. It turns out super creamy and delicious. Waaaay better than instant pudding.
I put in a few chocolate chips while it was warm and stirred them in a bit. Now when I eat it there are little bits of chocolate that melt in my mouth. Yum!
