Shaken, Not Stirred? Whatever! How to Make a Classic Martini Either Way

If you want to be like James Bond, a shaken martini cocktail will be your thing. If not, the stirred version is just as enjoyable. So what's your pleasure?

You'll need:

  • 3 1/2 ounces vodka or gin
  • 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
  • ice
  • olives or lemon peel

For a stirred martini:

  1. Chill the martini glasses.
  2. Pour the vodka or gin and vermouth in a drink shaker.
  3. Add an ice cube and stir gently.
  4. Strain into a martini glass.
  5. Garnish with olives or lemon peel.

For a shaken martini:

  1. Chill the martini glasses.
  2. Pour the vodka or gin and vermouth in a drink shaker.
  3. Add ice and shake, shake, shake for about 10 seconds.
  4. Strain into a martini glass.
  5. Garnish with olives or lemon peel.
