Reindeer Food Recipe: An Addictive White Chocolate Christmas Snack Mix

Reindeer food. Texas trash. White chocolate snack mix. Whatever you call this Christmas snack mix recipe, this festive concoction is a fun addition to your holiday dessert table – and it makes a great gift.

To make this addictive and easy sweet holiday snack mix you will need just a few simple ingredients. Here's your shopping list: mini pretzels, Cheerios, Chex cereal, salted peanuts, M&Ms, vanilla baking chips and vegetable oil. The snack mix is on wax paper or aluminum foil in less than 15 minutes. Let it set up a few minutes then pack it into jars, airtight containers or cookie tins. This snack mix recipe makes a lot. You will have more than enough to snack on and share with friends and family.

If you can, use Christmas M&Ms. But sometimes, you just can't find a bag of them to save your life. Instead of freaking out like I've done in the past, just buy regular M&Ms. No one will notice, and this incredible snack recipe will taste just as delicious.

Recipe Notes

  • You can use any kind of Chex cereal you like (corn, wheat, rice, etc.).
  • Do not get any water into your vanilla baking chips or they will separate and not get smooth. I like to melt them in a 4-cup Pyrex measuring cup.
  • If kept in an airtight container, this snack mix will keep for weeks.

Here's how you make it:

  1. Combine the pretzels, both cereals, peanuts and M&Ms in a large bowl. Toss to combine.
  2. Put the vanilla chips and vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl (I use my 4-cup glass Pyrex measuring bowl). Microwave about 2 minutes. Stir. Continue to cook about 1 minute more until completely melted.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal and mix well. Pour mixture onto aluminum foil and allow to cool.
  4. When cool, break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.
