Simple 2-Ingredient Cranberry Sauce Recipe Cooks In 10 Minutes

Nothing against that jellied cranberry sauce in the can. But if you want to up the ante this Thanksgiving make homemade cranberry sauce. With just two ingredients (and some water) and 10 minutes cooking time, how could you not try this low-sodium cranberry sauce?

This two-ingredient cranberry sauce recipe couldn’t be any easier. It's just cranberries, sugar and water. Yes, that's all you need to add to your shopping list. These vegetarian and gluten-free cranberries cook in the sugar water until they soften and pop. Yes, they will pop. 

Serve this sweet and tart cranberry sauce as a side dish with that holiday turkey or ham, or with dinner any night of the week.

  • 1 bag (12 ounces) fresh cranberries, rinsed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

  • For extra flavor, stir in some orange or lemon zest.
  • A quick way to wash the cranberries it to place them in a mesh strainer and run it under cold water.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. (The cranberries will start to pop open.) 
  2. Cool completely then put in the fridge to chill.
