2-Ingredient Cranberry Sauce Recipe Is the Best (No Can Opener Needed)

Nothing against that jellied cranberry sauce in the can. But if you want to up the ante this Thanksgiving make homemade cranberry sauce.

This two-ingredient cranberry sauce recipe couldn’t be any easier. It's just cranberries, sugar and water. Another bonus? It takes about 10 minutes to make.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 0 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 10 to 12

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (12 ounces) fresh cranberries, rinsed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. (The cranberries will start to pop open.)
  2. Cool completely then put in the fridge to chill.

If you wanted, you could add some orange zest, orange juice or even some nutmeg or cinnamon.

I made this for the first time and used 1/2 orange juice, 1/2 apple cider and 1/2 cup less sugar! A little tart but good! Thanks for the inspiration!

I’m making this today and adding orange juice. I didn’t buy jalapeños at the store and too crowded to go back. Next year! Donna John Jan Mostrom Rosie Schmitgen

I made a variation of this simple recipe for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it! Instead of water, I used half cup fresh squeezed orange juice, half cup pumpkin apple cider, 3/4 cup brown sugar, sprinkle of cinnamon. Just delicious! Donna John Dr. Shayna Mancuso Jan Mostrom
