Quick & Easy Mashed Potato Ghosts Recipe for Halloween Dinner

Mashed potato ghosts? What child – or adult – could resist? Pair them with a healthy protein and your family will have energy to spare as you haunt the streets on Halloween night.

To make it healthier, you could do a mixture of mashed potatoes and cauliflower. Serve with an extra bowl of eyeballs (aka peas).

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • mashed potatoes (your favorite recipe)
  • frozen peas, thawed

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Whip the mashed potatoes with an electric mixer until fluffy.
  2. Cook peas according to package directions.
  3. Cut the end off of a large plastic zipper bag.
  4. Fill the bag with the mashed potatoes.
  5. Pipe mounds of potato directly on dinner plates to form the ghost, or pipe onto a bed of peas.
  6. Add two peas for the eyes.

Aren't they, Meredith Schneider?? I say, who needs kids to make them? Think I'll surprise my hubby with these the next time we have mashed potatoes. :-)

My sisters fiancé made vegan mashed potatoes this last thanksgiving with vanilla flavored soy milk. They were... edible, but I did appreciated the thought and effort put into it and ate it without a w ord. He is very southern and knows nothing about a vegan diet.

Yeah, not sure mashed potatoes need vanilla in them. lol Kudos to you for eating them! My oldest two kids are vegan, so I understand. I've eaten a lot of delicious vegan food. Best burrito I've ever eaten was from a vegan street truck.
