Back-to-School Banana Oatmeal Recipe Will Make You Set Your Alarm

It's back-to-school time for kids and adults. Taking time for breakfast is an important first step of the day. If you or your kids are not fans of oatmeal, do we have a recipe you will want to try!  This quick and easy oatmeal recipe featuring bananas, honey and cinnamon will make you rethink your oatmeal. It's delicious and healthy! Kids and adults will gobble it up.

All you need to make this sweet oatmeal is milk or nut milk, quick-cooking oats, a banana, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon and almonds. The oatmeal cooks up in minutes on the stovetop and is in your breakfast bowls before you know it! You could change up the ingredients to fit your family personal tastes (see Recipe Notes).

Ingredients

Here’s how you make it:

  1. Combine the milk and oats in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, reduce heat and cook about 2 minutes.
  2. When thick, add the chopped banana, brown sugar, honey and cinnamon. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Top with additional sliced banana, the chopped almonds and a drizzle or honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
