Rice Krispies Treats Stick to Your Hands? Try This Cooking Hack!

Rice Krispies Treats (RKTs) are a fave for moms and kids because they are so easy and they require no baking. The mixture can be sticky, but you can make them with less mess. Want to know the secret?

  • Grease your spoon or spatula before combining the melted ingredients with the cereal so the mixture doesn’t stick.
  • Then, use a piece of waxed paper to press the mixture into the pan evenly with your hand so it doesn’t adhere to the wooden spoon or spatula.
  • Or use The Cookie Elf’s favorite trick for pressing a sticky mixture into the pan: wet your fingers. Shake off excess moisture and then press the mixture into the pan. Wet fingers prevent extra mess!

Great tip, Kathy! I always use the wrapper off of the stick of butter to push the Rice Krispies Treats into the pan with. Then just throw it away!

Yep! I used to bring ones with sprinkles for my kid's birthday treat at school. Teachers loved it. No messy icing.
