Salad Pizza: A Healthy Way to Get Kids to Eat Their Greens!

Looking for a balanced meal, fast? Let them eat pizza – and salad, too! Salad-Pizza, an East Coast delicacy, begins with Neapolitan-style pizza, preferably made with organic ingredients. Then add:

  • tomato sauce base
  • mozzarella

Once cooked, top your pie with:

  • mixed green salad tossed in balsamic vinaigrette
  • or trade tomato sauce for pesto, then toss the salad in a lemony vinaigrette

Clean, convenient food. Don’t tell the kids; just construct it right in front of them. They’ll think you’ve gone off the farm, but really, you’re just leading them back to it!

I love this idea and it might actually get me (and my kids) to eat more salad!

I make a pizza with white sauce, shredded chicken, mozzarella and parmesan, then top it after it's baked with chopped romaine, more parmesan and chopped avocado. A drizzle of ranch dressing and you're good to go. Great idea, Angela Borneman!
