Playing Games With Kids: Here's Why I Don't Let My Kids Win!

Many years ago, I was visiting a friend with a 9-year-old son. We were playing a card game and his mom whispered, "We always let him win." I didn't have kids yet at the time, but this bothered me! Now I have three boys and I don't let them win.

When we play games, I teach them how to think about the best moves or let them practice a few times so they get better, but I don't lie and pretend I don't know what I'm doing. Have faith that your children can learn to win and lose with grace so when they earn a victory, their pride and self-confidence can flourish!
