Laughter Is the Best Medicine: The Importance of Laughing With Kids Is No Joke

We all know that laughter is the best medicine. But laughing with your kids is really the best tonic. The day you realize life is not all serious is the day you will find the happiest moments.

I never hold back my goofiness around my kids. They are going to laugh at me anyway. Just the other day a car commercial came on and the Simon and Garfunkel song, Sounds of Silence, was the background music. I couldn’t resist singing along. But instead of my normal angelic singing voice (insert laughter here) I decided to lower my voice into my deepest and most dramatic range, which my daughter was witness to (poor thing). She burst into laughter.

A few days later she told me a classmate had randomly brought up the same car commercial, and his dad had sung along, too. Of course my daughter shared her embarrassing parent story. The story connected them, but making its way back to our house, the connection now was between us.

It hasn’t stopped there. Now when the commercial comes on, the hilarity continues. Point is, this seemingly small bit of our daily life has become a special moment between us. Yes, our kids (especially teens) will mostly laugh at us, but you’ll be surprised at how much they laugh with us.

Kids make me laugh, too and it’s the best! They get their sense of humor from me naturally 🤣

Great read! I agree! No kids want boring parents anyway! My kids are grown and I still “play” with them. 👍🏾💚💚💚

Thank you Ash Benton My kids would say I am anything but boring, well maybe embarrassing but I will take it. :)
