The New Wave of Fatherhood: Dads, the Movement Has Begun!

My son, Amir, had a school performance recently. His mother and I got there early, took our seats and watched as the rest of the parents came in, greeting each other. I was proud to be in the presence of so many parents, even more so being in the presence of fathers. I would say the room was almost a 50/50 split, and my heart was full knowing we as fathers are changing the perception of things.

When I was growing up, my mother went to the more social things I was involved in. My dad went to more of the sporting things that I used to do. Roles have now become more equal with raising children. I am so excited to be part of the new generation of fathers that are keen to go on their hands and knees.

Back to my son’s school show… I was a proud father, seeing him dance, screaming at the top of his lungs to certain words he knew as well as shaking his bell proudly to jingle bells.

Fathers, be proud of your children – and be proud of yourselves. We, as fathers, set stones for our kids who will become the next generation of parents themselves.
