Dear Future Dads: Dove Men+Care Champions Better Paternity Leave Worldwide by Mike Prochaska

Dove Men+Care is helping spread the word about the importance of paternity leave – because men and dads play an important part in their children's lives. This Father’s Day, Dove Men+Care is championing paternity leave for all dads, because when men take the time off work to care for their newborn, everyone benefits, including their families, workplaces and communities.

The company is challenging the stereotypes and stigmas that prevent men from taking paid paternity leave today, even when they do have access. They have launched a new film, Dear Future Dads, that features stories from real dads around the world to showcase why taking the time to care for their children is so important.

According to Dove, 71 percent of dads in the U.S. agree there is little workplace support for fathers. With this new initiative, Dove’s goal is to increase utilization rates of paid paternity leave for those men who have access to it, and encourage other companies to come together and offer men paid paternity leave so they have the ability to spend time with their newborns. While 89 percent of dads believe it’s important that companies provide paid paternity leave benefits, only 13 percent of U.S. men have access to them, and of those new dads, most don’t take their full time off.
