National Kids to Parks Day: How You Can Participate Because Kids Need Parks & Parks Need Kids! by Mike Prochaska

Saturday, May 18, 2019, is National Kids to Parks Day sponsored by National Parks Trust (NPT). NPT was established in 1983, and is a land conservancy and environmental education nonprofit dedicated to preserving parks today and creating park stewards for tomorrow. NPT finds key land projects that benefit our national parks and connect kids to these places – because kids need parks and parks need kids.

Kids to Parks Day is a nationwide celebration of the great outdoors and is designed to connect kids and families with their local, state and national parks and public lands. By discovering and exploring our public lands, kids across the country can learn about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and the history of our country. In addition, by teaching our kids to appreciate and enjoy our public lands, we can foster future outdoor enthusiasts and create the next generation of park stewards and caretakers of these important places.

Kids to Parks Day is a chance to make future generations of outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists. It instills the value and appreciation of our public lands and parks and playgrounds. Kids to Parks Day attracts first-time park visitors as well as existing park enthusiasts. Together we will be able to protect and preserve our country’s public lands and waters by cultivating passionate park advocates.

Register to participate in Kids to Parks Day (you could win some prizes!). The video shows a recap of Kids to Parks Day 2017 from across the country. This video is longer than 30 seconds, but we think it's worth it.

Hoping the weather holds out so we can get out and play! There's always so much to discover... no two trips to the park are ever the same! :)
