Enough Is Enough: Educators & Students to Take a Stand for Gun Control Legislation

Students and educators are calling for a National Day of Action to protest inaction on gun control legislation. The National School Walkout Twitter group is suggesting a “polite, passionate, plea for peace” school walkout on April 20, 2018, which is the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre. The group states they’re frustrated by the lack of action and want the government to know that they want change to happen now!

In addition, David Berliner, an educational psychologist and Regents’ Professor of Education Emeritus at Arizona State University, is asking for a national teachers strike, while the Women’s March is organizing their own school walkout. The National School Walkout group is working with both Berliner and the Women’s March group to combine their efforts stating that "there is strength in numbers."

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, there are approximately 49.5 million public school students and 3.1 million teachers in the U.S.

Educators and students, will you be taking a stand and walking out on April 20?

Wait why is it women’s march that makes sound only women are for gun laws. Both men and women are.

Wow, I didn’t realize all this! So great to see people take action to protect our children. Thanks, Mindy Hudon, M.S., CCC-SLP . And yes, Mike Prochaska , both men and women are taking a stand!

Mike, I believe this group is just part of the efforts. It seems like people are trying to work together to help. There is power in numbers.
