My Son & His Peas: Put on Your "Poke" Face & Read This Story!

My son loved his vegetables when he was younger, but now he's coming into his own, teething, taste buds, the works. He’s starting to get his own tastes, likes and dislikes – he doesn't like grapes anymore, but would eat a lemon with no issue.

Returning to the story of the peas, my son, Amir, loved peas, or so I thought until a day at IKEA. Every so often, either before I start work or on my day off, we go out to have breakfast or lunch as a family. This time it was lunch at IKEA. I ordered the usual for my son – meatballs, jam, peas and chips.

Now, within seconds the chips, jam and meatballs were all in his mouth, but the peas were left. Slowly, but surely, the peas started to go. But out of the corner of my eye I caught my son taking the peas and hiding them underneath his leg with no care in the world – with the greatest poke face he had. He was pretending to chew the food but was slowly lifting his leg up and hiding the peas underneath.

All I could do was laugh. I truly couldn’t believe he did that, but my other half did and she replied, "Well, he is your son."

Watching him grow and spending time with him is a dream. And learning that he has a great poke face is amazing!

How cute! My daughter used to smash the peas up under the rim of her plate. So I thought she ate them until I'd pick her plate up to put it in the sink. They're pretty inventive! Thanks for sharing this fun story, King solo' Minds !
