Queer Eye's Karamo Brown: 3 Tips on Balancing Career & Fatherhood

Currently, one of the Fab Five on Netflix's "Queer Eye," meet Karamo Brown. His work is also known from MTV, OWN, Huffington Post as well as a contributor to NBC's Access Hollywood and other entertainment news outlets

  • Career comes second to the kids: No matter the workload or the heavy schedule, that takes a back seat to the important moments in my kid's life.
  • Protect your kids from your Twitter fingers: In an Insta world, many of us want to post every awkward and sweet moment of our child's life, but don't! Not all kids want their special moments posted, and you should give them a say in it. Also, be aware that there are a lot of mean people (strangers, friends and co-workers) who will troll your children, so protect them by not tagging them if you do post a photo of them.
  • Be honest with kids about your life: Many times as parents we feel we have to protect our kids by not telling them if we are happy or sad about our careers. Kids are intuitive and can sense how things are going. Let them in (in a way they can comprehend) so they can learn from your choices.

Excellent tips! I especially love No. 2 - so many parents post about their kids all the time, including embarrassing moments. We need to realize our kids' feelings matter more than anything, and as they grow up, this becomes even more important. Thank you for the great interview with Karomo Brown, Alex Bryant !
