Mom & Dad, Prioritizing Your Partner Is Prioritizing Your Kids: 3 Easy Tips to Help by Tom Templeton

Most of my career as a psychotherapist has been spent working with children, which means I've also spent a lot of time with parents. Very often, these parents – or saints as I call them – are so consumed with their child's challenges that they forget to make time for one another. They've subscribed to the notion that children always come first. But as counter-intuitive as it might seem, parents who prioritize their romantic relationship are happier, less anxious and more patient parents.
Being aware of this, however, is different than knowing how to go about it. Start with these three easy tips, and you'll be on your way!
- Ask about your partner's day every day – and LISTEN.
- Compliment your partner often – and mean it!
- Schedule a date night no less than once a month.
Your kids will thank you.
