Why to Lend a Hand to Single Parents, the Real Parenting MVPs by Ann Marie Gardinier Halstead
You know who the real MVPs are? Single parents. I think of them as parenting WARRIORS.
All of us are busy and often feel overwhelmed, wondering if we’re doing it “right.” But no one is busier or more overwhelmed than a single mom or dad. On any given day they’re coach, taxi driver, nurse, teacher, judge and cheerleader, with no option of handing the kids off to the other parent for a quick mental health break.
So here’s an idea: Those of us who have a co-parent can lend a hand to our single parent friends. Babysit their kids so they can have a night out or go to the gym or take a shower in peace. Better yet, show up at your girlfriend’s house with a bottle of wine and do her laundry and dishes! It really does take a village, or as I like to say, a community.
