Acne Affects Nearly Everyone: Here's What You Can Do About It!

Acne is the most common chronic skin disease, affecting more than 85 percent of people at some point in life. For preteens and teens, it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to see improvement.

  • Skin should be washed gently once daily with an acne cleanser containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
  • Squeezing, picking or scrubbing acne should be avoided as it causes inflammation.
  • Topical prescription medications to unclog pores are the best treatment. If necessary, oral antibiotics may be prescribed.
