Gray & Gorgeous: Why I've Decided to Let My Hair Go Gray Naturally

I’m letting my hair go gray. This may seem like a trivial topic, but stick with me.

I’ve been coloring my hair for the last 14 years. Every eight weeks at $200 a pop. That’s $18,200 I’ve spent to make sure I “didn’t look too old too fast.”

At 40 that was important to me. Our country admires youth. I bought into it. I no longer care about living up to other people’s standards. When we are focused on living up to what other people want, we aren’t spending enough time discovering who we are, what we want, what gives us that spark of joy inside (and it ain’t just a piece of clothing!).

Some people find safety in sameness. Don’t.

There is only one you. You are unique. Own who you are. When you do that, others will do the same.

Shine on people, shine on.

This is so inspiring to me! As we age, we need to own our power, and this is one way to do that. Shine on, Jennifer Coken , shine on.

I love everything about this! It is so inspiring to see women change the definition of what it means to age.
