What's up with the charcoal hype? As a supplement, while it's often touted as a hangover cure and toxin absorber, there is very little evidence to support it's a good thing to ingest on a regular basis. So what about activated charcoal in beauty products? Turns out, the hype is actually real.

To put it simply, charcoal works on the surface of your skin to draw out bacteria, unclog pores and absorb oil, which explains why you're seeing it in so many products. And it's not just skin care.
