Dining Out Healthier: 3 Strategies to Help Save Calories When Eating at Restaurants

When you eat out at restaurants, you're likely to eat more calories than you would if you were at home. Here are a few tricks to help you save hundreds of calories:

  • Start your meal with a broth-based soup, shrimp cocktail or green salad with oil and vinegar on the side. This will help you to fill up before the meal so that you aren’t ravenous by the time your entree arrives.
  • Split an entree with a friend, or ask the waiter in advance to pack half of your meal to go.
  • Go for balance: lean protein, lots of vegetables and a small serving of starch will keep you full longer.

Here's to healthy eating!
