A Taco Recipe With Less Fat but All the Flavor? Here's the Simple Secret! by Elisa Schmitz

We love tacos, but depending on the ingredients you use, they're not always healthy. Because it's a quick, easy and delicious dinner that everyone loves, I found a way to make taco night healthier. How?

I swap out the ground beef for ground turkey instead, reducing fat and creating a leaner, less greasy meal. The flavor is still there, and once I add in fresh greens, tomatoes, cheese and salsa, with a side of black beans, it's a well balanced dinner that everyone agrees on.

Hope you try it and plan your own fiesta!

I use ground turkey in my tacos, too. I also use ground venison, which is really low in fat.

YUM! Tonight was Taco Tuesday at my house and I used ground turkey it was delicious! Awesome tip! ;)
Sue Rodgers
Just using ground turkey taste kinda weird and the kiddos don't liko so mucho. So we use mostly ground turkey and some ground beef, about 3:1 turkey to beef. Oh the 6th grader is working on ratios in math.

Great ideas, Donna John and Sue Rodgers! I appreciate your add-ons. Meredith Schneider, so glad your family loves turkey tacos as much as we do! xo
